We express our sincere gratitude for your donation to the Amhara Student project. Your support made a big difference in the lives of 52,000 12th-grade students in the Amhara region.
In the 2020/2021 (2013 E.C) school year, more than 1.5 million students dropped out because of the TPLF invasion, and 277 schools were destroyed. In addition, more than 1,300 schools were partially damaged. Furthermore, supplies and other materials were stolen and destroyed (Deputy Head of the Amhara Regional State Education Bureau, Oct. 21). In that same year, 152, 935 students sat for the 12th Grade national exam in the Amhara region in which only 22 % of the students were able to pass. That was the lowest score in the region's history.
The mission of the Amhara Students Exam Prep Project was to provide tutorial sessions and intensive educational preparations for the 12th-grade students who were set to retake the exam due to the impacts of the TPLF-incited war in the Amhara region.
As part of this project, 2,536 teachers participated, and 1,047 tutorial sessions were offered from July '22 to September '22. The program not only prepared these students to retake the exam but also helped them improve their confidence and self-esteem (based on the interview with students/teachers).
This project would not have been successful without your support. Thank you!
